To provide Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery services in Nepal


Input: 
  1. Create awareness of the services offered by the SKMH to encourage referrals ( particularly of difficult cases) by other hospital, surgeons, line agencies, NGO’s and health services providers.
  2. Expand the treatment of burns to include the whole spectrum of burns, post-burns contracture and defect wounds.

 

  • Conducts burn prevention campaigns.
  • Raise awareness of burns, the risks to women and children from cooking fires and kerosene stoves and how to prevent/ treat burns and expand the activities in this area to reduce the risks.
  • Expand fee-based cosmetic surgery services (not to exceed more than 10% of the total plastic, reconstructive and general surgery services) to generate more income to cover hospital-running expenses.
  • Expand fee-based emergency services for tourists (not to exceed more than 10% of the total of total plastic, reconstructive and general surgery services to generate more income to cover hospital - running expenses.
  • Formulate a human resource development plan including internal and external training and career opportunities.
  • Formulate a Gender Equity Policy.

Outputs: 
  1. Treatment for all characteristic diseases and injurys inthe field of plastic/reconstructive surgery and general medical services provided.
  2. Specialized human resources int he field of plastic and reconstructive surgery developed and retained.
  3. financial sustainability of SKM hospital is ensured by increased national funding.
  4. A country wide network for responsive and functional referral system establishment.
  5. Physical assets, biomedical equipment and waste disposal system management to ensure effective services delivery.
  6. Community participation in  SKMH Hospital Services improvement of quality.

Outcome:
  • Improve access of needy people for treatment to Burn and Post Burn Contracture, Deformities, General Medical and Dental Treatment Services.
  • Improve access of needy people for Extension of Specialized services such as Gyaneacology and Orthopedice services.
