AID MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR NEPAL

Electricity Transmission Expansion and Supply Improvement Project (ETESIP) is an ongiong project with the investment of US$ 100 million, the Government of Norway provides US$ 25 milliom as grant and ADB has committed to provide US$ 75 (US$ 56 million Loan and US$ 19 million grant).

The project is expected to help GoN Improve electricity supply from Tamakoshi-Kathmandu and other parts of mid Nepal.

Proposed an  Electricity Transmission Expansion and Supply Improvement Project  is critical for reliability of Energy supply in Nepal and its capacity for power import and export across the border. This Project will address the following three key areas as inputs:

(i) Electricity transmission capacity supply expansion including facilitation of increased cross-border power flows which include 2nd  circuit string ig Kohalpur- Mahendranagar 132kV transmission line, construction of Tamakoshi (Khimthi)- Kathmandu 220 kV/400kv transmission line and  expansion of Chapali grid subststion;

(ii) Strengthning of the distribution  system in both DCS (East) and DCS (West) and along the Tamakoshi (Khimthi)- Kathmandu  transmission line;

(iii) Rehabilitation of Tinau (1 MW) and Sundarijal (640) small- hydro power plants

a. Capacity  Building of NEA staff and the communities surrounding the proposed investmants.

The outcome of the project will be improved electricity supply through improved connectivity between generation and load centers, distribution strengthening and enhanced small hydropower capacity.
