Input: 

 

A total of 80 bridges are expected to be built during the phase and the programme will have mainly four components:
i) Construction and piloting of new bridges (having average span of 40 meters to support loads of 15 tonnes on average) and approaches corresponding to outputs 1, 2 & 3
ii) Generation of knowledge and technological transfers corresponding to output 4
iii) Formulation of policy, strategies, business plans, norms and standards corresponding to output 4

iv) Capacity building of GoN, local communities and private sector[1] corresponding to output



[1] Out of 1200 registered private contractors of different class categories (A,B,C and D), very few A and B class contractors have
experience on building road bridges at a standard prescribed by DoR.  

Impact: 

 

‘People in the programme districts have improved livelihood due to better access.’

Outcome:

 

Outcome 1: People have improved access to services and opportunities.The remote rural population will have better access to resources and opportunities from all-weather motorable roads and bridges;
Outcome 2: National and local institutions adopt appropriate local road bridge strategy.
