The project is on going in Chitwan District with partnership of Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN) from July 2011. The project coverages following areas:

a. Madi area : Gardi, Baghauda, Kalyanpur and Ayodhyapuri VDcs. (now Madi Municipality)

b. Ratnanagar Municipality - Bansi and Belsi

d. Kumoraj VDC


Outputs: 

1.       Disaster and environment related information will be shared with local communities (activity 1)

2.       Existing Coping mechanism against flood at local level will be strengthened. (activity 2 & 3)

3.        Villagers’ will advocate local issues to local government will be strengthened and they become possible to access government resources by themselves. (activity 4 & 5)

Key Achievements
  • 1. 13 Disaster Management Plan (DMP)with risk assessment, resource inventory are prepared and revised each year2. The hazard maps are included in DMPs, wall calendar, flex print and disseminated. 50% of villagers can explain the information of hazard map.3. Majority of CBPO members are well aware about the existing flood coping mechanism.4. 15 small infrastructure are established.8 CBPOs are success to tap Rs. 209,184 from VDCs.Total 772 households including 3836 population benefited and protected 290 hectares of land.5. Public auditing of 10 completed schemes and formed maintenance committee.6. Advocacy for resettlement from DDC Chitwan, National Park, line ministries, DAO, major political parties, and Prime Minister Mr. Sushil Koirala.7. River master plan is endorsed by council of VDCs and DDC Chitwan.8. Land Ownership Certificate continue advocacy9. Villagers and project staff are sharing DMPs and related information to line agencies10. 8 infrastructures are collaborated by VDC/Municipalities and other stake holders 31/12/2014
